The 2241-2RK Emergency Kit packages all the basic radiation measurement tools you’re likely to need to handle a radiological emergency into a convenient carrying case to facilitate a quick response when required. It is also a versatile tool for general radiological surveys. The kit includes Ludlum’s digital, auto-ranging, and versatile Model 2241-2 Ratemeter/Scaler that can measure exposure, contamination, and samples. Responders can either plug in the alpha beta gamma GM pancake probe (Model 44-9) for contamination measurements and measuring samples or the (Model 44-2) high-sensitivity gamma scintillator for locating the source of the high readings. A locked toggle switch selects the correct set of operating parameters for detector presently connected to the instrument to optimize the measurement. The carrying case supplied with the kit is air and water tight with cutouts for each device including a 137Cs check source to verify proper operation of the equipment.

DISPLAY: 4-digit LCD display with 1.3 cm (0.5 in.) high digits, separate annunciators for display units, alert, alarm, low battery, detector overload, counting overflow, and scaler counting. Two additional 0.5 cm (0.2 in.) digits are used for the overflow counter (scaler mode) and exponential powers (parameter setup).

VARIABLE: Dependent on number of counts present. Typical times are FAST 4 to 25 seconds, SLOW 4 to 60 seconds (All times stated from 10% to 90% of final reading).
FIXED: The parameter is adjustable from 10 to 25 resulting in a FAST response from approximately 2 to 50 seconds. The SLOW response is approximately 10 to 250 seconds. For MDA-type measurements, the fixed response mode is recommended.
